Parent Information Programme
Parents who are in dispute over their children may be ordered by the court to take part in the separated parents information programme (often known as a PIP or SPIP). Each programme usually lasts for two sessions of 2 hours and each and mum and dad will each attend a different course.
What happens in the programme?
- You will meet with other parents and experienced staff in an informal confidential setting.
- The programme will give you more information about the effect of divorce/separation on children and some ideas as a parent on improving communication and co-operation with your ex-partner.
- HIt aims to help you be the “best possible parent” and most of those attending have been positive about what they have learned on the programme despite often initially not being so enthusiastic at having to attend as part of a court order.
